The Mudslinging Should Cease as We Examine a Miracle

The 2008 Presidental Race

Politically Posh with Chidimma

It is 2008 and a lot has changed with regards to race relations, while many things have stayed the same unfortunately.  I am able to openly date whomever I want, but I still get looks ranging from strange to hostile from time to time.  Most people would call me African American, but I could still be called the N word.

A lot has changed, but many things have not.  Ignorant people choose to stay in their ignorance.  But the beauty of today is that the top two contenders of the Democratic race, the only two contenders in this race are Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.  A biracial (or some would say black) man and a white woman.

A racial minority and a woman are running for President and have a great chance of winning this election.  That is the miracle of this campaign, but it has been lost in the midst of the mudslinging amongst both candidates.  We have been so focused on what Hillary said that was distasteful or what Barack believes about faith and religion that I believe we've missed the point.  This election is monumental.

I know which candidate I caucused for, but I was torn between both and I only made my decision as I was counting in my role as the temporary caucus chair of my precinct.  They both present great opportunities to contribute to rebuilding this country and each have their challenges.  I encourage you to go to www.glassbooth.org to learn more about each of the candidates so that you can vote for the person that is best aligned with what you believe and not just because you're black or a woman.
